Faith Formation for K-1; 3-8 The 2023-2024 Faith Formation year includes a program that brings together everyone in the home to participate in the Sunday Mass and grow in faith and knowledge through interesting and interactive ways. All attend the Sunday 9:30AM Mass at St. Joseph's Church and gather in the Parish Hall immediately following the Mass. After a chance to greet one another, have a snack and drink, children proceed to their classes using Pflaum Gospel Weeklies to further break open the Gospel readings until 12pm. We will have several Faith Festivals throughout the Liturgical Seasons to provide resources, crafts, and fun ways to foster your domestic church.

First Reconciliation and First CommunionChildren preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion follow the same schedule as the other program. They include the 9:30AM Mass and class that follows. It is important the children and their family attend Mass as they prepare for this Sacrament as the Mass(Eucharist) is the Source and Summit of our Faith. We use a step-by-step program from Dynamic Catholic called "Blessed" - a DVD series with workbooks to help better understand these two Sacraments. Additionally, parents watch the Augustine Institute's Forgiven and Presence Series with discussion. This provides an opportunity for parents to prepare themselves as the primary teachers of the Faith, especially during such an important year.

Confirmation
"Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit - his actions, his gifts, and his biddings - in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life. To this end catechesis for Confirmation should strive to awaken a sense of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal Church as well as the parish community. The latter bears special responsibility for the preparation of confirmands." CCC, 1309
Confirmation age changes to 8th Grade
In the coming years, we will be moving to 8th grade as the year for children to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, in obedience to Cardinal Sean's decision. Although this coming year will likely NOT see 8th graders receive Confirmation, it will begin to change our Faith Formation program as a whole. More details to come on our plan to roll out this change, which will include a more diligent effort for children between the Sacramental years of First Communion and Confirmation to remain in our program.
Please take note as your children move through these years.
